The Cord of Life

Nominated for Best Picture in 35th Tokyo International Film Festival Asian Future

Discontent of the way his brother takes care of their mother (played by Badema) with Alzheimer’s disease, musician Alus (played by Yider) takes her back to the grassland to look for her long lost childhood home. To prevent her from wandering off, Alus ties a rope between them, forming an “umbilical cord” that reverses the mother-child relationship and leads them deep into the grassland. As love transforms their mutual restriction into understanding and freedom, the mother is able to return to her spiritual home while Alus reaches a place of peace and love.
